There's nothing like winter in the Drakensberg; harsh and dry and freezing. The landscape all barren and bare, just patiently waiting browns and burnt blacks and dust, with the mountains gathered bluish-grey like old sages waiting in the background. No snow yet, everything just stark and dry.
It's a time for family, for recovery, for reading, for quiet, for just being. It's what I'm grateful for. Be back soon...

It's winter school holidays for us here. Time to find fun things to do to take us away from dreary everyday thoughts. Time for recapturing sunny holiday feelings. Time for bleached skies hung with a low, watery sun... toes itching for beach sand... nostalgic visits to the beachfront fun fair with its bygone charm... coffees and fruit juices drunk on the promenade watching the bustling city warm itself on this beautiful winter's day.
I have to admit, I love wintertime in Durban! This might also be a great time to boast that CNN Travel put Durban on their list of 10 most underrated cities in the world. I couldn't agree more!
